Modelling- and Simulation-Based Design of Multi-tier Systems

چکیده
This paper introduces a domain-specific language for modelling and simulationbased design of multi-tier systems. Multi-tier systems are complex and very few general models have been developed. Rather, models are always dedicated to a specific architecture. Our approach allows for rapid experimentation with different multi-tier alternatives. Not only parameters, but also structure can be drastically varied. Using graph transformation, multi-tier systems models are translated into Queueing Petri Nets (QPNs) in a systematic way for analysis with the SimQPN simulator. We describe QPN, our multi-tier architecture visual language, as well as the transformation between them. A case study demonstrates the power of the approach for design-space exploration.

متن کاملDetermination of optimum of production rate of network failure prone manufacturing systems with perishable items using discrete event simulation and Taguchi design of experiment
This paper, considers Network Failure Manufacturing System (NFPMS) and production control policy of unreliable multi-machines, multi-products with perishable items. The production control policy is based on the Hedging Point Policy (HPP). The important point in the simulation of this system is assumed that the customers who receive perishable item are placed in priority queue of the customers w...
متن کاملModeling, Analysis, and Design Insights for Shuttle-Based Compact Storage Systems
Shuttle-based compact systems are new automated multi-deep unit-load storage systems with lifts that promise both low operational cost and large volume flexibility. In this paper, we develop novel queuing network models to estimate the performance of both single-tier and multi-tier shuttle-based compact systems. Each tier is modeled as a multi-class semiopen queuing network, whereas the vertica...

This paper studies interference alignment scheme and minimum mean square error (MMSE) improvement in Internet of Things (IoT)-oriented cognitive systems, where IoT devices share the licensed spectrum by cognitive radio in spectrum underlay. Target to manage the inter-tier interference caused by cognitive spectrum sharing as well as ensure an MMSE at receivers, the interference alignment algorit...
متن کاملUsing Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms for Modelling and Multi-objective Optimal Heat Exchange through a Tube Bank
In this study, by using a multi-objective optimization technique, the optimal design points of forced convective heat transfer in tubular arrangements were predicted upon the size, pitch and geometric configurations of a tube bank. In this way, the main concern of the study is focused on calculating the most favorable geometric characters which may gain to a maximum heat exchange as well as a m...
